and Parents..."

The following questions were submitted by members of the Chapter.  These are questions that members' parents had or might have had.

Why Zeta Tau Alpha?

Some of the primary reasons for choosing Zeta are:

  • a lifetime of friendship
  • opportunities to serve others
  • leadership growth
  • a commitment to high academic and personal standard

For those who choose to wear the crown, Zeta feels like home; a perfect fit.  Zeta is forever.  The lessons you will learn, the memories you will create, and the friendships you will form will last a lifetime.

What does Zeta Tau Alpha stand for?

ZTA is committed to leadership development and personal growth, academic achievement, friendship, sisterhood, and the service of others.  We are heavily involved with supporting our philanthropy, breast cancer awareness and education, as well as serving the community that surrounds us.  Zeta works to build a pure and nobler womanhood in the world.

What is Zeta Tau Alpha’s reputation on campus?  Nationally?

Close to 90% of Kappa Iota’s members are involved on Moravian College’s campus in other groups besides ZTA.  Zeta is represented on numerous sports teams, academic clubs, IMPACT (student programming group), Association of Peer Educators, our student ambassador group, and many more clubs and organizations.  Our name is also known around Moravian because of our fundraising events held on campus including the sale of “Think Pink” themed tee-shirts.

Zeta Tau Alpha is the third largest member of the National Panhellenic Conference with 200,000 initiated members, 148 active collegiate chapters, and 250 active alumnae chapters.  Our philanthropy, breast cancer awareness and education, plays a big role in who we are as Zetas.  Zeta Tau Alpha is partnered with Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®, the National Football League, and Yoplait® Yogurt in the fight against breast cancer.

ZTA is also a member of the National Association Student Personnel Administrators, the Association of College Personnel Administrators, the National Association of Women Educators, the Association of Fraternity Advisors and the Capital Fraternal Caucus.

What does Zeta Tau Alpha have to offer?

Aside from a lifelong sisterhood and countless memories, ZTA offers leadership positions through our executive and programming councils as well as positions within Moravian’s Panhellenic group and Greek Council.  Zeta also offers a variety of service opportunities around our community and numerous ways to fundraise for our philanthropy.  The ability to continue active membership after your years at Moravian is available through particaption in one of many Alumnae Chapters.

Where does the money for dues go?

Much of the money is returned back to the Chapter to fund the budgets of positions such as that of Social Chairman who would use the money for events like our fall and spring formals as well as other activities.  As a new member, some of your dues money will go towards your ZTA badge, initiation, and other new member fees.  The price of dues is reduced after your first semester in Zeta.
For more specific information regarding dues, feel free to contact our Treasurer whose information can be found on our "Officers" page.
